It is the country’s only entrance exam for undergraduate medical courses (MBBS/BDS). NEET UG replaced all other medical entrance exams in India in 2013.
NEET UG is conducted once a year in offline mode (pen and paper-based test). The exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs)covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The total duration of the exam is 3 hours.
To be eligible for NEET UG, a candidate must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects. The minimum age limit for NEET UG is 17 years, and there is no upper age limit.
NEET UG scores are used by various medical colleges and universities in India to admit students to MBBS/BDS courses. The selection of candidates is based on their NEET UG scores and other eligibility criteria as specified by the respective colleges/universities.

The Eligibility Criteria
Age limit: The candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or should complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
Academic qualification: The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects from a recognized board or university.
Minimum marks: The candidate must have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate in the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology subjects. For reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC), the minimum marks required are 40%.
NEET UG attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts a candidate can make for NEET UG.
Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals are also eligible to apply for NEET UG.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the registration dates for NEET 2025 on its official website, neet.nta.nic.in. The registration process for NEET 2025 will To be announced. The registration process is completely online and involves basic registration, filling the application form, uploading documents, and online payment of the registration fee.
To register, visit the official NEET UG website www.ntaneet.nic.in and click on the “New Registration” link. Enter the required information such as name, date of birth, mobile number, email address, and submit it. You will receive a registration number and password on your registered mobile number and email.
Next, log in to your account using the registration number and password to fill in the personal, academic, and communication details in the application form. Ensure that all information is entered correctly.Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature in the prescribed format.

Pay the application fee online (debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI) or offline (Bank Challan) after completing the application form. Finally, take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference after submitting the application fee. Candidates are advised to complete the registration process before the deadline to avoid any last-minute technical glitches.
The Test pattern of NEET (UG) – 2025 comprises four Subjects. each divided into two sections. Section A will contain 35 questions, and Section B will contain 15 questions, out of which candidates can choose to attempt any 10 questions. The total number of questions and time allocated for the exam will remain the same.
