Platinum, Gold, and Silver topics

  • The NEET PG can feel like a mountain of information, but with the right approach, you can conquer it!
  • This article introduces a powerful strategy based on topic importance to maximize your efficiency and exam performance.
  • We’ve categorized topics into three tiers: Platinum, Gold, and Silver.

 Why Strategic Prioritization?

  • Maximize Efficiency: Focus on Platinum topics first, ensuring you master the most impactful areas.
  • Boost Confidence: Knowing you’ve covered the high-yield areas reduces exam anxiety and strengthens your confidence.
  • Strategic Planning: Tailor your study schedule based on topic importance, allocating more time to Platinum and Gold topics.

 Master the High-Yield Essentials: Platinum Topics

These are the absolute must-know subjects with the highest likelihood of appearing on the exam. Mastering them will solidify your foundation and significantly boost your score.

  1. Biochemistry: Amino Acids, Vitamins & their functions
  2. Microbiology: Gram Negative Bacilli, Gram Positive Bacteria, Immunology
  3. Surgery: Pancreas & Spleen, Trauma, CA Breast
  4. Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM): National Health Programs, Zoonotic infections, Screening, Respiratory Infections
  5. Pathology: Inflammation, Hemolytic Anemia, Bleeding Disorders
  6. Medicine: Arrythmias, Cerebrovascular diseases
  7. Radiology: GI, Fundamentals of Radiology, RS (Respiratory System)
  8. Pediatrics: Newborn Infant, Neonatal Diseases
  9. Obstetrics and Gynecology (OG): Antenatal Care, Contraceptive methods, Conduct of Labour
  10. Other High-Yield Areas: Physiology (Respiratory Physiology), Anatomy (relevant to high-yield topics)

Focus on Important Areas: Gold Topics

These subjects are crucial for the exam but may be slightly less emphasized than Platinum topics. A solid understanding of these areas will strengthen your preparation and ensure you’re well-rounded.

  1. Obstetrics and Gynecology (OG):STDs, HIV, CA Cervix, Placenta & Fetal Membranes, Ectopic Pregnancy, HTN & Pregnancy, Uterine Prolapse
  2. Ophthalmology (Ophthal): Uvea, Retina & Vitreous, Errors of Refraction, Glaucoma, Cornea, Lid & Lacrimal structures
  3. Pathology: Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Molecular basis of Cancer (from Platinum), Immunity & Hypersensitivity, Glomerular diseases, Cell Death, Tumor immunity, Diseases of Cardiac chambers, Amyloidosis, Disorders of Immunity, Intracellular Accumulations, Chromosomal disorders, Plasma cell disorders, Disorders of Coagulation, Disorders of Small & Large Intestine
  4. Other Key Gold Topics: Pharmacology (Antiepileptics, Drugs for Cardiac Failure, etc.), Medicine (CVS, Metabolic Disorders, Cirrhosis, etc.), Surgery (Oral cavity, Esophagus, Large Intestine, etc.), Forensic Medicine (IPC & CRPC), Pediatrics (Vitamin deficiency), Radiology (CVS – Diagnostic approach)

Don’t Neglect the Supporting Cast: Silver Topics

While less emphasized than Platinum and Gold, Silver Topics still hold value and contribute to a comprehensive understanding. Utilize resources to solidify your knowledge in these areas, but prioritize Platinum and Gold first.

  1. Anesthesiology: Inhaled Anesthetics, Intraop Monitoring, Airway Management
  2. Biochemistry: Carbohydrates of Clinical importance, Acylglycerols & sphingolipids, HMP shunt and Miscellaneous pathways
  3. Forensic Medicine: Sexual offences, Violence against Children, Explosive & Firearm Injuries
  4. Many areas within Medicine: Adrenal disorders, Chronic Kidney disease, Platelet disorders, and more (See full list in the article)
  5. Other Silver Topics: Ophthalmology (Orbital & Ocular diseases, etc.), Pathology (various specific diseases), Pharmacology (various drug classes), Physiology (various systems), Psychiatry
