Overview of NEET PG Counselling:

NEET PG Counselling is a crucial step in the process of admissions to postgraduate medical courses in India. It is conducted to fill the MD/MS/PG Diploma seats in various medical colleges across the country. The counselling process is organized by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the All India Quota (AIQ) seats and by respective state authorities for state quota seats.

Key Points to Know:

1. Types of Counselling:

  • All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling: Conducted by MCC, it includes 50% of the total MD/MS/PG Diploma seats in government medical colleges all over India, except for colleges in Jammu & Kashmir.
  • State Quota Counselling: Managed by state authorities, it covers the remaining 50% seats in government medical colleges, private medical colleges, and deemed universities within the respective states.

2. Rounds of Counselling:

  • AIQ Counselling: Usually consists of three rounds – Round 1, Round 2, and Mop-Up Round.
  • State Quota Counselling: The number of rounds may vary by state, typically involving multiple rounds.

3. Counselling Process:

  • Registration: Candidates need to register on the respective counselling authority’s official website.
  • Choice Filling: After registration, candidates must fill in their preferred choices of colleges and specializations.
  • Seat Allotment: Based on merit, choices filled, and availability of seats, candidates are allotted seats.
  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must undergo document verification at designated centers.
  • Seat Acceptance: Candidates need to accept the allotted seat by paying the requisite fees within the stipulated time.
  • Reporting to Allotted College: After seat acceptance, candidates must report to the allotted college for further admission procedures.

4. Eligibility Criteria for Counselling:

  • Completion of the MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
  • Successful completion of the rotatory internship.
  • Possession of the provisional or permanent medical registration certificate issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or a State Medical Council.

5. NEET PG Counselling Fee:

  • The counselling fee varies for different categories and is payable during the registration process.

6. Documents Required:

  • NEET PG Admit Card and Rank Letter.
  • MBBS degree certificate and mark sheets.
  • Internship completion certificate.
  • Medical registration certificate.
  • Category certificate (if applicable).
  • Passport-sized photographs.

7. Important Websites for Counselling:

  • MCC Official Website
  • Respective State Counselling Authority Websites.
