NEET PG 2025 Eligibility Criteria: A Detailed Overview

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) organizes the NEET PG exam annually, providing a gateway for medical graduates to pursue postgraduate courses such as Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS). Understanding and meeting the eligibility criteria is paramount for candidates aspiring to appear in NEET PG 2025. The eligibility details are typically released along with the information brochure on the official website nbe.edu.in.

Common Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates must possess an MBBS degree or a Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized by the Indian Medical Council Act 1956.
  2. Certificate of Registration:
    • Candidates must hold a registration certificate (permanent/provisional) issued by MCI or State Medical Council (SMC) or Medical Council of India (MCI).
  3. Internship Completion:
    • Candidates must complete their one-year internship on or before To be announced
  4. NEET PG Attempt Limit:
    • No specified maximum limit on the number of attempts.
    • No age limit is specified for NEET PG 2025.

AIQ 50% Seats Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Candidates from Jammu & Kashmir:
    • Medical graduates from Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for AIQ 50% seats.
    • Exceptions for candidates nominated by the Government of India under central pool seats, who must submit a duly signed affidavit.

State Quota Eligibility Criteria:

  • General eligibility criteria for 50% state quota seats include a provisional MBBS pass certificate, NEET PG cutoff, completion of a one-year rotatory internship, and possession of state domicile documents.

Foreign Medical Graduates Eligibility:

  1. Foreign Medical Graduates:
    • Must have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) (Screening Test).
    • Completion of internship on or before August 11, 2025.
  2. Foreign Nationals:
    • Not mandatory to be registered with MCI from 2019 onwards.
    • Temporary registration provided by MCI for the duration of the postgraduate course.

Additional Highlights:

  • Ineligibility found at any stage of the entrance exam results in the cancellation of candidature.
  • The one-year internship must be completed within the stipulated time; extension requests will not be entertained.
  • Candidates are advised not to submit multiple NEET PG 2025 application forms for the same year to avoid cancellation of candidature.
